Sam W. Gainer, CPA

Sam W. Gainer has been in public accounting since 1975. He received a BBA in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin in 1967 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law in 1970. Mr. Gainer was admitted to practice before the Texas Bar in 1970; in 1972 he was admitted to practice public accountancy. Sam worked in industry at Allied Chemical for two years before joining the firm of W. Dawson Carter in 1975. Sam's areas of expertise are income and estate tax planning, management advisory services, analysis of financial statements, business valuations, and analysis of business strategies. Sam has clients in fields including real estate development, wholesale distribution, manufacturing, marketing, and legal and other professional services.

Sam is a past President of the Houston Society of Magicians and builds furniture in his spare time.

David P. Donnelly, CPA

David Donnelly is a partner with Houston's oldest and largest local public accounting firm, Gainer, Donnelly & Desroches, LLP. Prior to joining the firm in 1983, David served as a controller in the communications industry for 6 years after receiving a BBA, with Honors, from the University of Texas at Austin.

With over 25 years in public accounting, David's expertise includes management, tax planning and consulting for both domestic and international clients. Leading the real estate practice at GD&D, David's primary clients are in real estate development, brokerage and operations with a client base extending to the industries of oil and gas trading, advertising, engineering and the arts.

Named by CPA Magazine as one of the 'Nation's Top 100 Most Influential Practitioners' in 2004 and again as one of the 'Nation's Top 100 Most Influential Practitioners' by NPA Magazine in 2006, David's knowledge and experience are invaluable assets to the Firm and the clients we serve .

David serves on the State Tax Committee for the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and is also a board member for DiverseWorks, Inc, a Houston nonprofit arts organization.

Rod L. Desroches, CPA

Rod L. Desroches joined Gainer, Donnelly & Desroches LLP in 1987 and was admitted as a Partner in 1992. He has served on the Executive Committee since 1992 and is currently Managing Partner of the firm. His previous public accounting experience was with Coopers & Lybrand.

His experience encompasses all phases of financial and tax services including preparation and review of financial statements, analysis of profit enhancement and management strategies, mergers and acquisitions and integrated planning for businesses and their shareholders regarding income tax and estate tax reduction strategies. His client base includes high net worth individuals and privately held businesses and their owners in a variety of different industries. These businesses range from real estate developers and operators, oil and gas exploration and downstream companies, wholesale distributors, healthcare facilities, and manufacturers.

Rod received a BBA in Accounting from the University of Houston in 1979, and was named Bauer College of Business Undergraduate of the Year in 1979. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. Rod currently serves as a director of the Three Amigos Foundation, a nonprofit organization providing funding for various other charitable organizations.

Miles D. Harper III, CPA

Miles D. Harper III joined the Firm in 1998 as a tax manager and was admitted as a partner is 2001. He received a BBA from Baylor University in 1985 and was certified in 1987. His experience includes all phases of financial and tax services including preparation and review of financial statements, analysis of management strategies, individual, business and estate tax planning and valuation, and litigation support. Prior to joining Gainer, Donnelly & Desroches, Miles worked for the public accounting firm of Price Waterhouse for five years and was managing partner of a local Houston firm for eight years. Miles serves on the board of Grace School and the board of Calvert Foundation.

George A. Hawkins, CPA

George A. Hawkins joined the Firm in 1989 and was admitted as a partner in 1999. In addition to his specialization in income tax planning and compliance, George is also the partner in charge of the estate and trust taxation department. His client base includes individuals and corporate entities involved in oil and gas exploration and production, industrial fabrication, real estate management, retail food service, and the legal, medical and dental professions. Prior to joining the firm, George earned a BS degree in geology from Northern Arizona University and worked for ten years in the oil and gas industry.

George is currently a member of several professional organizations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, as well as the Houston Chapter of CPA's, and the Houston Estate and Financial Forum. Additionally, in prior years, George has served as Board Member and Treasurer of DiverseWorks, Inc., a non-profit arts organization.

F. Wesley Middleton Jr., CPA

Wesley Middleton Jr. began his public accounting career in Mobile, Alabama. His experience encompasses a wide range of financial and consulting services including accounting software applications, management advisory services, financial statement preparation and review and tax planning for individuals and closely held corporations. Prior to joining Gainer, Donnelly & Desroches in 2001, he was a partner with the firm of Garner, Prichard & Middleton. Wesley continues to practice public accounting because he enjoys helping others be successful with their business plans and business operations.

Rick A. Shell, CPA

Rick joined Gainer, Donnelly & Desroches, LLP in October 2003 after serving 6 years as Regional Director of Operations and as General Manager for a publicly-held company. Rick’s business career began at KPMG Peat Marwick and continued for 12 years, including the final 6 as an audit senior manager. Rick has also served as the CFO of a Houston-based manufacturing company and served two additional years as an audit senior manager for a local accounting firm. His audit experience covers a variety of industries including energy, commercial services, manufacturing and employee benefit plans. He received his BBA in Accounting (with Distinction) from the University of Oklahoma.

Wayne Snelson, CPA

Wayne Snelson joined Gainer, Donnelly & Desroches, LLP, in May 2000 after serving as chief financial officer of an oilfield equipment manufacturer. Prior to this, Wayne worked with a Houston area accounting firm for seven years as an audit manager. His audit experience covers a variety of industries including construction, employee benefit plans, and manufacturing. He is a graduate of Lamar University.

Teresa L. Snow, CPA

Teresa joined Gainer, Donnelly, & Desroches, LLP in October 1995 as a staff accountant after graduating summa cum laude with a BBA in Accounting from Southwest Texas State University (renamed Texas State University). Teresa was admitted as a partner to the Firm in July 2006. Her audit experience encompasses a diverse range of industries including construction, mortgage banking, employee benefit plans, oil and gas trading, and not-for-profit organizations.

Teresa is a member of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA), the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Texas, Texas Association of Mortgage Brokers (TAMB), and a volunteer instructor with Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas .
